An engraver, a painter
An engraver, a painter about whom almost nothing is known. He probably started to work in Essen. In 1561, he is marked as a house owner in the city annals of Cologne. Most preserved engravings carry his monogram, there are no dates. He made original plates on religious and allegoric subjects. Ladenspelder authored the cycles Evangelists and Planets and some portraits and ornamental compositions. He copied works by Albrecht Dürer, ‘Little Masters’ and Italian engravers.
