JOHN THE BAPTIST

The last of the prophets, the one who foretold the coming of Messiah and was his forerunner. He lived in desert as an ascetic, preached baptism and repentance, baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. He was beheaded on orders from the Jewish Queen Herodias and her daughter Salome.
