DRUMMER OF NIKLASHAUSEN
One of the secular compositions present in the Schedel's World Chronicle. It is based upon a well-known story about a man who started to preach in 1476 against the Pope and the clergy. He demanded the right to hunt and fish freely for all the citizens of Germany, and was burned on the orders of the bishop of Wurzburg. This man, the drummer of Niklashausen, was a precursor of the Reformation.
