“THE PEASANT CYCLE”

Albrecht Dürer

Copperplate engravings depicting peasants and folk musicians can be linked together only because they have similar subjects. Dürer did not make a cycle of his compositions on folk subjects he was interested in depicting peasants during his whole life. All the prints are made using the technique of copperplate engraving. The earliest go back to 1497–1498, the latest date from 1519.
